It’s been, what… a little less than a year and a half, of unemployment, and it’s simply not for me. More anxious than ever to hear back for the SQL flunkie position at the public schools; I do desperately need some structure.
Trying to organize my projects has been a complete mess, the way that whatever’s outside my immediate periphery inspires guilt that overshadows the task at hand… can’t spend time reading if I have to bulk up my editing chops – can’t edit recordings if there are letters I should be writing. So what I’ve decided to do is to put it all out there, enumerate everything I might possibly want to work on, and just have those goals set for the next decade or whatever. The hope is that there are some bits that I’ll be content with pushing way far out, allowing my focus to narrow on those more immediate goals.
I just haven’t decided where to host it, essentially. I think an amount of public exposure (again, like this site) regardless of actual views will confer an amount of accountability that crumbles without light. So it might just be a page on this site that gets updated all the time.
Anyways. What am I up to today… we’re clearing a lot of clutter out of the house, so I should probably explicitly focus on some of that (instead of using housework as a distraction). And, perhaps then this site as well! I’d like to work the url in as my bluesky handle. I did some job app stuff yesterday so I don’t feel obligated to work on that today, or at least I shouldn’t.
Maybe I’ll also read a bit in a tarot book we have and start up that as part of my daily reflective practice.
