It’s important to post when you’re happy, even if it seems more sensible when you’re down; right?

Decent weekend, took it pretty easy despite the let-down hearing about a public school position I’d interviewed for falling through. Made a friend at the swimming hole who works for another public institution I’d love to work for/have applied for in the past, so we’re going to see a movie tonight to chat and hang.

I think I’ve come around to accepting that my 401k probably isn’t what I’ll be leaning on in retirement… it just doesn’t feel right to me to have so much hope for myself wrapped up in the market. I don’t care for the market! I don’t respect the market! Ifwhen shit goes bottom-up, I don’t want any sliver of me to think “aw, damn…” – no, we’re popping bottles. Cheap ones!!!

So, I’ll calm my ass down and continue to keep my head down through applications and whatnot. I have a couple of extraneous project connections I feel like I have to clear up, but by and large I’m pretty calm about shit. No reason to freak out.

What’s on my agenda for this week: some apps to a couple state and federal institutions, reading a book on tarot as a therapeutic practice, logging some recipes in markdown for my simple ass, banjo practice, and… some website work, perhaps. It’s gonna be a good one!
